“GREAT VET CARE MAKES A HEALTHY AND HAPPY PET”

HELP THEM NOT STRAY, NEUTER AND SPAY.

VETERINARIANS IN TREASURE VALLEY

At Atherton Kennels & Animal Shelter, we would like to remind people that one of the most important parts of responsible, loving and caring pet ownership is proper Veterinary Care.

Veterinary Care Can Not be sporadic, it is a constant responsibility that must last the lifetime of your pet.

Some of the most common, yet serious canine illnesses that require vaccinations or treatment are:

  • Parvovirus Infection (Parvo) ( more )
  • Canine Distemper ( more )
  • Canine or Kennel Cough ( more )
  • Rabies ( more )

These are only a few of the dog diseases and viruses that are out there, in the environment that can affect the life or quality of life that your pet experiences.
We highly recommend that pet owners develop a working relationship with their local veterinarian, in order to gather more information about vaccinations and the proper medical care for your animal. We also highly recommend that you discuss with your veterinarian the process of implanting a micro-chip in your dog to assist in getting you and your pet back together if you would ever become separated.

If your dog were to end up with us we
scan all stray dogs for a Micro Chip ( More Info )

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Our shelter has a Avid Micro Chip Reader donated several years ago by the late Dr. Sherman, making it possible for us to scan animals that came into the shelter for the Avid Chip, however, the Avid Chip Company has informed us that their reader is universal and we should be able to detect the other microchips as well.
